Farha Sport Center – Indoor Fields (at South Branch YMCA)
The inception of the Farha Sports Complex at the South Branch Greater Wichita YMCA benefits its community in two ways. First, the Farha Sports Complex fills what was a void, in Wichita, for youth sports tournament venues. Second, the significant energy it brings to the south side of Wichita builds pride in the city.
The design of this new complex provided a cost-effective means of realizing those purposes. The first building supports sixteen youth basketball courts, sixteen regulation volleyball courts, eight full-size basketball courts, or a combination of each for simultaneous play. A bright, inviting lobby features concessions and seating for competitors and family members to relax between games. Glass walls allow views of the activity on the courts. A flexible classroom and training area provide spaces for coaching and demonstrations between tournaments.
The second building, similar in size and layout, houses two full-size or six half-size turf soccer fields. A sport specific training room aids team practices and allows athletes to warm up and cool down. A lounge and concessions room, adjacent to the fields, is frequently used by parents between games.
